The four-story university building in Amherst impresses with an innovative timber-concrete composite structural system and a generous floor space of 8,129 m². With construction costs of 52 million US dollars, it is one of the largest timber structures in the USA. The project integrates three faculties, as well as offices, studios, lecture halls, and laboratories. The collaboration took place with University of Massachusetts, USA, Leers Weinzapfel Associates Architects and [http://www.eqcanada.com/ Equilibrium Consulting Inc. The 3D model (© Alex Schreyer / UMass) shows the modern use of steel structures, timber structures, laminate and sandwich structures.
