Glaspalast Sindelfingen, Germany

The Glaspalast Sindelfingen is a sports and event hall in Baden-Württemberg in the west of Sindelfingen, Germany. The hall is mainly used for sporting events and also for trade fairs, congresses, and concerts. During the renovation, the roof and facade were renewed and additional escape routes were built.

The Glaspalast in Sindelfingen, a technical and architectural icon of its time, was put to the test. The principle of sustainability demands not to operate at the expense of substance. It covers the three dimensions of ecological, economic, and social sustainability and serves as a guiding principle for the further development and renovation of sports facilities.

Based on an expert report prepared by IBK in 2010, the energy-efficient refurbishment and renewal of the entire roof and facade structure as well as the addition of further escape routes were carried out partly during operation.

The main trusses were recalculated using RFEM with the new loads resulting from the energy-efficient renovation.
