Glued-Laminated Timber Production Hall, Ukraine

In Ukraine, in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, a new building for the production of glued-laminated timber structures is being constructed. The structure and the foundation of the production hall were calculated using RFEM to ensure the required ultimate limit state.

The structure of the production hall consists of a timber frame with glued-laminated timber columns and truss-like roof girders. Due to the requirements of the technological process and the dimensions of the woodworking machines, a span of 28.0 m with a frame spacing of 7.2 m was chosen.

The production hall has plan dimensions of 57.0 × 28.4 m and a height of 8.5 m. The building has neither overhead cranes nor height offsets in the roof contour. The environmental conditions have no negative effect on the load-bearing timber structures.

The foundation is provided by single foundations made of cast-in-place concrete in reinforced concrete construction. The soil was modeled in RFEM using the Geotechnical Analysis add-on. The total weight of the timber structure is approximately 115 t.
