Agro-Photovoltaic Systems Vineyard, Italy

ALPEAS was commissioned to design photovoltaic systems arranged in 48 rows of varying lengths. RFEM was used to ensure the structural capacity of the PV systems under high wind loads.

The Agri-Photovoltaic Vineyard represents a new model for integrating agriculture and renewable energy generation. The entire system is designed to maximize integration between the photovoltaic system and the vineyard, optimizing light availability, agronomic management, and accessibility for agricultural machinery.

As one of the first examples of advanced agri-photovoltaics in Italian viticulture, the project stands out for its technical solutions. These were developed to create a fully integrated, efficient, and transferable system. It offers an innovative and unique infrastructure that demonstrates how electricity generation and viticulture can be synergistically combined. As a result, the project makes an important contribution to the region’s environmental, economic, and agricultural sustainability.

The supporting structure consists of columns driven into the ground made of S355JR steel with an HEA100 section. Attached to their heads via a bi-directional pinned connection is a square hollow section with dimensions of 90 × 90 × 3 mm made of S355 steel. C-profiles with dimensions of 60 × 60 × 2 mm made of S355 steel are fastened to this beam, onto which the transversely arranged photovoltaic modules are mounted directly.
