The subject of this engineering thesis was the reconstruction design of a military hangar for airships from World War I. It was developed in accordance with applicable regulations and construction standards.
The thesis includes a review of literature on the construction of timber hangars from World War I. These are collected historical and archival materials of the reconstructed hangar structure from the Las Pietrasze. This was followed by the design of the reconstructed main transverse structure, structural calculations, design of structural elements, and construction details of hangar joints modeled in Tekla Structures.
The airship hangar was designed in its original location as a free-standing structure consisting of 20 horizontal sections and a rear wall. It will serve as a military facility for the stationing, operation, and maintenance of the Albatros II and Astra combat airships.
