This customer project showcases a steel membrane roofing structure in Nairobi, Kenya.
The prestressed fabric membrane, made of Mehler fabric, is supported by seven curved steel arches (S235 steel) and creates a semi-covered poolside area that protects hotel guests from the sun while blending naturally into the surrounding landscape.
Designed by Savana General Trading using RFEM, the structure features optimized membrane geometry for efficient pre-tensioning force distribution. Nonlinear analyses, water ponding evaluation, and CFD wind simulations were carried out using RWIND to ensure structural safety and performance.
