Graduation Thesis Shading Roof — Porta Genova Station, Milan

This academic project, developed as part of the Building Systems Engineering degree program at Politecnico di Milano, focuses on the structural and technological design of a new shading roof for the renovation of the Porta Genova railroad station in Milan. ⭐️

The parametric model created in Rhino/Grasshopper was seamlessly integrated into the structural workflow using RFEM 6, enabling fast and efficient analysis. 📈

The Steel Design add-on was used to design the tubular steel members. Load transfer surfaces were applied to accurately distribute loads from the large roof geometry to the supporting structure. The resulting ground reactions were then used to size the connections.
