Headed by Professor Martin Mensinger, four student teams from the Technical University of Munich Department of Civil, Geo and Environmental Engineering developed and presented unique designs for a bike and pedestrian bridge in Munich. The designs included the "Rosengoldbrücke" ("Rose Gold Bridge"). This bike and pedestrian bridge spans over the Schwere-Reiter-Straße and serves as a quick connection between Olympiapark and the Munich district of Maxvorstadt. The students opted for a bridge without columns for aesthetic reasons. Additionally, the optimized layout offers adequate opportunity for public space. Inspired by nature, the creative design by the engineers includes a bridge in the shape of a rose falling on a rock.
