Engineering Mechanics | Internal Forces on Beam | Moment Distribution | Axial Force Distribution

This short video, less than 4 minutes in length, explains the general approach for internal forces on the beam.
The already determined shear force distribution is shown at the beginning. On this basis, we determine the maximum moment in the middle of the beam. The moment distribution reaches the maximum value exactly at the point where the zero crossing of the shear force distribution lies.

By knowing the positive and negative sides of the section, we can sum up the moments and horizontal forces. The result is the sectional moment or axial force.

This sectional moment is to be entered in the peak of the quadratic function of the moment distribution. On the other side, the axial force remains constant through the entire beam, as only one horizontal force acts on the right support in the system.
