The new Candlewood Suites on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama is the first cross‑laminated timber (CLT) hotel constructed in the United States. It opened its doors in 2016.
This four-story hotel with 92 units serves the lodging needs of the Redstone Army post. A total of 1.782 m³ (62,930.7 ft³) of cross-laminated timber and 366 m³ (12,925.1 ft³) of glued-laminated timber were used for the walls, floors, roof, stairwells, and elevator shafts.
