My model involves members, as well as surfaces/solids made of wood. An orthotropic material model 2D/3D has already been created. Now, I receive an error message saying that the material model for the cross-section X must be isotropic.

Answer

In this case, the orthotropic material model is probably assigned to both the surfaces/solids and the members. However, members made of wood require an isotropic material model. Accordingly, another timber material has to be created and assigned to the corresponding members or cross-sections.
