The “Steel Joints” add-on allows for the design of through-bolts in hollow structural section (HSS) connections according to both AISC 360 and EN 1993 standards.
When the “Perform verification of through-bolt shank” option is enabled, the bearing strength of the through-bolt is evaluated using AISC 360 Equation J7-1, treating it as a rod passing completely through an unstiffened HSS member. Additionally, tearout strength is checked in accordance with AISC Section J3.11b.
