With the member type "Buckling-Restrained Brace" BRB composite cross-sections can be taken into account. In the cross-section database of RFEM and RSTAB, predefined types are available for this in the 'BRB composite sections' menu.
The cross-sections have axial properties only, with the area of the steel core of the BRB composite cross-sections (Asc) being the most important parameter. The new material takes into account the three factors required for the analysis of BRB elements: the stiffness modification factor, the compressive strength adjustment factor, and the strain-hardening adjustment factor.
