The new Member Type with the name "Buckling-Restrained Brace" (BRB) allows you to model BRB elements, for which a cross-section and a material with the same name have also been created. The cross-section is located in the "Composite" cross-section menu and has 9 predefined templates. The cross-sections only have axial properties, where the most important parameter is the area of the BRB’s steel core (Asc). The new material includes the 3 factors required for the analysis and design of BRB-type elements: the stiffness modification factor, the compression strength adjustment factor, and the strain-hardening adjustment factor. A constraint has been created regarding the use of the member type, cross-section, and material, whereby the cross-section and material can only be used with the BRB member type.
