Does RSTAB or RFEM create backup files and where can I find them?
RSTAB and RFEM have an integrated backup function.
You can find t in the working directory of the installation drive.
In these directories, you find a folder with the edited model, where the files are created during the modeling and calculation as well as the backup file "Position.rs8bak" or "Position.rf5bak."
After installing RSTAB or RFEM, a working directory is created. You can find this path by selecting on the menu "Options" -> "Program Options" -> "Data Files" tab (see figure 1). In the corresponding folder, you find the file "Position.rs8bak" or "Position rf5bak," which you can simply copy in a different folder and rename to "Position.rs8" or "Position.rf5." Then, you can start these files in RSTAB or RFEM, respectively.
Please note that the file "Position.rs8bak" or "Position.rf5.bak" is deleted when you correctly exit RSTAB or RFEM, respectively. However, in the case that a program stops responding, the folder and the backup files will not be deleted, thus allowing you to reload the saved model. Confirm the message whether or not to restart the model (that is, Position.rs8bak or "Position.rf5bak") by clicking [Yes].
This file will be overwritten as soon as you start working with another model or if you leave the old model open for too long (for example, a day).
To define the interval of automatic file saving, go to "Options" -> "Program Options" -> "Program" (see figure 2). The default setting is 2 minutes.
