Check out these tips to help you get started with the RFEM program.
Modal Analysis | Solution Methods for Eigenvalue Problem
Video
First Steps with RFEM
Description
In this video, I would like to show you how you can choose the solving method for your modal analysis and compare the results of the different solving methods, using a small example system.
With the Modal Analysis add-on, you can calculate eigenvalues and other important information of your modal analysis in RFEM 6. You can specify the eigenvalue solver in the modal analysis settings and you can currently choose between three listed solving methods.
The selection depends on the size of the system to be considered and is more a question of the performance than the accuracy. The methods are all suitable for determining the exact eigenvalues. In future, you will find the solution methods explained in the online manual. However, you can also read the background to this in the previous RF-DYNAM Pro manual.
You can define several modal analysis settings and then compare the results in three load cases.
As you can see, the results of our small example system are very similar for all three solving methods.
