Graphical Workspace

The graphical workspace takes up the main part of the user interface. There you can create the model, apply loads, as well as examine the results.

When you open RFEM or RSTAB for the first time, the workspace presents the work plane grid, the axis system, and the view cube. Clicking or rotating the cube (hold down the left mouse key while moving the pointer) you can control the view. Alternatively, use the Mouse Functions to adjust the view.

The model objects represent the structural components of the model, such as lines, members, hinges or supports (see the General Functions). Load objects are tied to structural objects, such as nodal or member loads, or can be freely defined.

After the calculation, you can examine the results in the workspace. Those include the internal forces of members and surfaces as well as the deformations and strains.

When you have enabled the concrete design, you can also see the design objects in the workspace, such as the rebars of the beams or surfaces.

To select an object, click it or draw a window over it. You can then drag the selected object to a different location or copy it by holding down the 'Ctrl' key while moving the pointer.

When you draw the window from left to right, the selection includes only those objects that are completely contained within the window. When you draw the window from right to left, however, the selection also includes objects that intersect with the window.

To modify an object, double-click it. The 'Edit Model' dialog box is opened where you can adjust the object parameters.
