The Meixi Urban Helix is a spectacular steel structure in Changsha, China, which provides a panoramic view of the 40-hectare artificial Meixi Lake from a 30-meter-high, conical double helix. Various concepts were developed in a competition held in 2013, and the final shape was structurally analyzed using the RFEM FEA software.
Engineers from Weiske + Partner and consulting engineers from VBI realized the innovative structural system. The model combines sophisticated steel structures with concrete structures and documents groundbreaking approaches. (© Weiske + Partner GmbH)
