The Bannwald Tower stands in the middle of a 400-hectare forest reserve in the municipality of Ostrach since 2016. While the concrete base houses an exhibition on the surrounding nature reserve, visitors to the viewing platform at a height of over 37 m (121.4 ft) can enjoy a 360° panoramic view of the moorland.
The tower consists of solid timber panels (cross-laminated timber modules made of spruce) with an internal steel staircase. The timber facade is made of larch rhombus formwork with facade sections of varying thicknesses. This gives the tower an almost living appearance.
This project was designed by Dlubal customer Wirth Haker using the FEA software RFEM.
