Reconstruction of Existing Industrial Facilities into Logistics Center, Ukraine

In Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine, Dlubal customer PPVP KARKAS designed the reconstruction of an existing industrial facility into a logistics center. After 32 years of inactivity, the industrial complex was given a new purpose and will now be used as a storage facility.

The site with an area of 920 m² (9,903 ft²) and the commercial space in a neighboring building with 62.6 m² (673.8 ft²), as well as a crane girder were reconstructed. For this purpose, new vertical walls were built as a truss structure.

Furthermore, the roof concrete structure was redesigned. The reason for this was an increase in snow load from 0.5 kN/m² (10.4 lbf/ft²) to 1.37 kN/m² (28.6 lbf/ft²) and preparation for future solar modules.

The design of this project was carried out using RFEM 6. To calculate the interaction of the existing prestressed concrete slabs, trusses, and new composite beams, the Tendons add-on was used in combination with the add-ons Construction Stages Analysis (CSA), Stress-Strain Analysis, Concrete Design, and Steel Design.
