The design is based on a sensitive approach to the existing building structure in terms of monument preservation and architectural history. Particular attention is given to the use of sustainable and historically available building materials, such as clay, lime, and lumber. Furthermore, the fortress and museum are to be barrier-free. The project includes the internal reconstruction and redesign of the entire inner castle on a total usable area of approx. 11,800 m².
Reconstruction of Kitchen Tower Roof Structure
The existing roof structure of the kitchen tower had to be completely replaced, because the existing timber components were contaminated with toxic wood preservatives and could not be reused for structural and health reasons. The new roof structure was designed based on the historical model and reconstructed as a roof truss with king posts. Special attention was paid to ensuring that the implementation was structurally and constructively sound, taking into account the requirements of historic preservation.
Dlubal customer ALS Ingenieure GmbH & Co. KG performed the calculation of the new roof structure as a spatial model in RSTAB according to the currently valid standards.
