Rewe Königs Wusterhausen, Germany

REWE Markt GmbH is constructing a new full-service grocery store in Königs Wusterhausen, Germany. The new building consists of a base zone with a timber structure serving as the roof. Dlubal customer B+G Ingenieure Bollinger und Grohmann GmbH was responsible for the structural design and used RFEM for this purpose.

In addition to the actual retail space, the base zone houses the food delivery area, staff rooms, technical facilities, refrigeration, as well as waste disposal and storage facilities. Two exterior staircases allow for access to a public rooftop area that can be used in a variety of ways.

Structure

The roofing of the new building was designed using a Grasshopper script in Rhino. It consists of timber beams that can be interconnected using shear connectors. This allows for rapid assembly of the structural framework using a modular design. The interior walls of the new building are constructed of solid wood.

The parametric design approach used in the design phase enabled the continuous analysis of a wide range of different structural systems and geometries, allowing for immediate adjustments to the structural design and column positions based on the results.
