Investigations on Use of Artificial Intelligence in Context of Structural Analysis

In this master's thesis, an AI-supported system for model-based structural analysis is developed. The objective is the automated generation, calculation, and evaluation of structural models using the finite element software RFEM. The basis for this is a GPT-based input module that interprets freely formulated language inputs and automatically generates executable Python scripts from them. These scripts communicate using the WebService interface with RFEM and generate stand-alone structural models including structural analysis.

A key feature is the automatic recognition of suitable modeling elements (for example, members or plates), eliminating the need for manual adjustments. In addition, a module for ecological evaluation has been implemented, which systematically records and analyzes CO₂ emissions and material usage.

The work documents both the technical implementation (prompt processing, API integration, result analysis) and the practical application possibilities. It thus contributes to digitization and automation in the construction industry and opens up new perspectives for sustainable and efficient structural design.
