✈️ Have you ever imagined an airport expansion that blends functionality with cultural heritage?
The Aimé Césaire Airport in Martinique is undergoing a groundbreaking transformation with a 24,000 m² expansion, enabling the airport to handle 2.5 million passengers! 🎉
This expansion includes:
▪️ Enlargement of the passenger terminal
▪️ Construction of a regional terminal
▪️ Extension of the baggage control systems building
The new design reimagines the airport’s layout, optimizing passenger flow and introducing a monumental red sphere, symbolizing the iconic Montagne Pelée, paying tribute to Aimé Césaire.
Key Engineering Challenges:
▪️ Integration of new structures with existing buildings, including seismic considerations for the seismic zone 5 context.
▪️ Nonlinear calculations for seismic behavior and verification of existing structures to ensure compliance.
Advanced structural models were created using RFEM software, with modules for seismic analysis (RF-DYNAM Pro) and steel design (RF-STEEL EC3), ensuring precision in this complex and vital project.
A true blend of innovation, culture, and functionality! 🌿
