📚 New Master's Thesis: Research on Deformation Prediction in Reinforced Concrete Components 🏗️
Mustafa Aslan from the University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt, Germany has successfully completed his Master's thesis focused on the calculation of deformations in reinforced concrete components. This complex task involves multiple factors such as creep, shrinkage, and cracking, all of which introduce high uncertainties.
This thesis investigates various calculation methods for predicting deformations and evaluates their effectiveness in limiting deformations in the serviceability limit state. It compares simplified design methods and direct numerical deformation calculations using the moment-curvature relationship.
Additionally, it examines approaches implemented in FE software like RFEM to analyze and compare deformation predictions.
Experimental tests were carried out on reinforced concrete beams produced under realistic conditions. The results of these tests, including measured deformations, were compared with those from different calculation methods, revealing one approach with particularly good agreement.
This research offers valuable insights and practical recommendations for improving deformation prediction in reinforced concrete design.
