As part of the transformation of Marienberg Fortress into the Museum of Franconia, the historic complex is undergoing a comprehensive renovation to meet the requirements of a modern museum.
The roof structure of the kitchen tower had to be fully replaced because the original timber elements were contaminated with toxic wood preservatives. Therefore, the new structure was reconstructed based on the historical design, using a traditional roof truss with imperial posts and historically appropriate materials.
🪵 Engineering & Design
The new timber roof was calculated as a spatial model in RSTAB by ALS Ingenieure GmbH & Co. KG, ensuring structural safety while respecting historic preservation requirements.
The project carefully combines heritage conservation, sustainable materials, and modern engineering.
