Guidelines in Project Navigator: Location Under "1: XY"

Why are all guidelines stored under the "1: XY" entry in Project Navigator – Data?

Answer:

Guidelines are always created in the current work plane. The work plane can be aligned parallel to one of the following global planes: XY, YZ, XZ.
