Multi-Core Capability

How many cores can RFEM 6 activate for the calculation?

Answer:

In theory, all cores can be used for the parallel solution of several analyses at the same time. However, it also depends on the free physical memory, analysis dependencies, and so on.

The RFEM calculation will always benefit from a multi-core processor. However, additional cores are not always necessarily better.

When the calculation is distributed over a high number of cores, the data traffic is increased and the connection between cores encounters a bottleneck situation.

Generally, we recommend processors from Intel. Unfortunately, we have not yet had any experience with Ryzen processors.

Modern processors have sophisticated temperature management. The cycle frequency is adjusted dynamically, depending on the processor temperature. Processor cooling can improve the performance. Therefore, we recommend a generously dimensioned computer case and a good cooling fan for the processor.
