History and Background – First Generation of Eurocodes
The development of the first generation of Eurocodes began in the 1970s with the aim of creating a harmonized European design standard for the construction industry. After years of intensive development, the Eurocodes were published by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) in 2007 and became binding in the member states in the following years.
State of Development of the Second Eurocode Generation
Work on the second generation of the Eurocodes began in 2012 and continues to this day. After more than 20 years of development work, the first parts of the new generation of standards have now been completed.
The availability of the final texts for the national standards institutes is indicated by the DAV (=Date of Availability) and is scheduled for March 30, 2026 at the latest.
The official publication of all parts is to take place on the DoP (=Date of Publication) by September 30, 2027 at the latest.
The withdrawal of the first generation of standards, that is, the formal end of the validity of the first Eurocode generation, is scheduled for DoW (=Date of Withdrawal) by March 30, 2028 at the latest. By this date, it is expected that the introduction into the relevant legal bases of the individual countries will have been completed.
Implementation of the Second Generation in RFEM 6 and RSTAB 9
In order to ensure as smooth transition as possible to the new Eurocode generation in RFEM 6 and RSTAB 9, we at Dlubal began analyzing and planning the implementation of the new generation of standards at an early stage. The full implementation of the second generation in our software solutions depends on the completion of the relevant parts of the standards by the standards committee, including the National Annexes. Depending on the part of the standard, these publications could take until the DoP.
