Horizontal Forces in Building Model

How are horizontal loads determined in the Building Model?

Answer:

For each story slab type except for the “No Stiffness” slab type, horizontal forces are output for each story.

Floor slab types:

  1. Without | Original stiffness
  2. Flexible
  3. Rigid

The output of the forces was always subject to result smoothing. This is set to “Continuous within surfaces” by default. As a result, the horizontal forces always have a peak at the lower end.

A smoothing curve corresponding to the “Non-continuous” smoothing type is used to output the horizontal forces.

However, this only affects the output of the forces. All other results continue to be set using the smoothing type.

The image and model display the horizontal forces for a result beam with the different smoothing types.
