The "Optimization & Costs / CO2 Emission Estimation" add-on aims to find the optimal parameters for a model. In this case, the add-on represents a separate control process between the parameter input and the regular calculation. The optimization process determines the parameters for the subsequent calculation, depending on the results of the previous calculations. This calculation loop continues until the optimal solution is found or a limit is reached.
Every optimization task is, therefore, based on the assumption that there is an existing set of models that can be optimized. The shape, size, stiffness, load, design setting, and so on, are controlled by variable parameters or cross-section series, as described in the Parameterized Input chapter of the RFEM manual.
