A timber roof structure was recently constructed over an existing open-air ice rink in Jelgava, Latvia. The project, located on Pasta Island, serves as a multi-functional building for recreational, cultural, and social activities.
Because the ice rink was located next to an existing pedestrian bridge and building, the shape and appearance of the roof needed to blend well with the surroundings. For this reason, a curved glulam timber roof structure was chosen.
