Metro Station in Naples, Italy

The railroad station forecourt at Piazza Garibaldi is fifteen acres in size. You can find parks, gardens, and fountains here.

Between 2005 and 2013, it was renovated along with the metro station of the same name.

Piazza Garibaldi is the forecourt of the central railroad station in Naples as well as of the bus station, tram, and metro line 2. More than 50 million passengers travel through the railroad station every year.

Properties

Eight metal girders form a large pergola (984 x 66 ft) and are covered by various metal sheets and glass panels.

Three different assembly modules, measuring 164 x 92 ft, were designed to give the structure the appearance of a random arrangement.

Calculation

Because Naples is located in a seismic zone, an independent thorough calculation of each structure was performed.
