Comparative Modeling and Design of Three-Span Steel Bridge

The objective of the thesis is to analyze various possibilities of modeling for the draft and preliminary design of a steel bridge. The problem relates to the correct choice of the structural model to be analyzed. It is theoretically possible to approximate a single-span bridge with a finite element program or to calculate this "simple" system manually with the exact known calculation formulas.

This thesis should also show that it is very important today to verify the computational calculations by manual calculations. It is necessary to understand the calculation method of the program. Various possibilities are summarized to model and design a three-span steel bridge in order to be able to carry out a realistic determination of internal forces.
