Structural Analysis of Existing Shed Roof Structure for Evaluation of Ultimate Limit State

In this thesis, a shed roof structure of a production hall in Sindelfingen, Germany, is analyzed. The hall has been used to produce cars since it was built in 1965. The chosen roof structure made of steel was very common at the time due to its economic efficiency.

In the course of automation, the production method in automotive engineering has also changed. Today, the conveyor technology is usually suspended from above and no longer guided on the floor as it used to be. This results in a need for much higher trailer loads.

The objective of the thesis is to analyze the structural safety of the roof structure according to today's safety requirements and to determine serviceability reserves, if necessary.
