New Building for Gallery of Contemporary Art as Extension of Modern Gallery in Saarbrücken, Germany

The Modern Gallery in Saarbrücken, Germany, should be completed by a further exhibition hall. A special challenge of the design is represented by an area of water put on the hall roof, resulting in very high additional loads. However, the huge hall with a size of 40 × 40 m should be roofed without columns. The design includes a suggestion for a composite floor slab with trapezoidal web beams.
