Structural Analysis and Design of Conveyor Bridge as Framework Structure

The thesis describes the design and structural analysis of a conveyor bridge built as a framework structure for a coal-fired power station, considering an easy assembly and economic efficiency. For the conveyance of coal from the coal resources to the coal storage tower, a conveyor bridge is built across a river channel that is 105 m long.

The bridge must resist actions like wind, dead load, and snow. Therefore, a three-dimensional structure was selected for the framework construction. However, problems such as the assembly above water must be already solved during the planning phase.

Subject of this thesis, after a short introduction into various framework systems and the subsequent design phase, is the structural analysis of the entire structure according to the state‑of‑the‑art.

As the bridge with a width of 8.8 m is a rather filigree structure, the design of wind generated vibrations is performed in addition to the general stress design and the ultimate limit state design. Furthermore, the bridge connections to the concrete foundations are calculated and dimensioned.

Thank you very much for providing me with the programs RSTAB and RFEM so that I could write my thesis."
