Design of Steel Structure of Ice Rink

The engineering thesis is a project of construction work made of steel and skeletal building structure. The building geometry is described by a plan of two circles creating two closed bays. Static analysis has been carried out numerically with the application of the finite element method (FEM) in the environment Dlubal RFEM 5 and SOFiSTiK AG.

The geometrically nonlinear analysis (GNA) has been used as it includes vulnerability of the system for the second-order analysis and flaccid bracings. For the lateral-torsional buckling of the selected structural elements, a beem and panel model has been used. The beam elements have been dimensioned using the equivalent member method. The whole system has been calculated for the ULS and SLS combinations. Afterwards, a utilization verification with the application of the modified analytical General Method contained in PN‑EN 1993‑1‑1 has been performed.
