The arena in Kaltenberg is a medieval complex right next to the Kaltenberg Castle, where medieval festivals take place every year. The student design pays tribute to the historical character of the building.

On the northern long side of the arena, the existing structure already has an older, roofed timber structure.

A simple, but elegant glued-laminated timber structure that protrudes over the grandstand was chosen for the design in order to keep the spectator area column-free. For the rest of the structure, steel was chosen, which underlines the natural character of the timber.
