Question

How are guy wires processed in RF‑FORM‑FINDING, concerning the prestress load to be applied? Is it necessary to assign a prestressing force to the guy wires?

Answer:

For form-finding, it is important primarily to apply a prestress for the membrane and any border cables that may be present. It is not necessary to prestress the guy wires.

The guy wires can be inserted as tension members with their initial length (see the image). Due to the prestressed membrane and the border cables, the load for the guy wire is obtained during the calculation.
