Design of Solids

Is it possible to use the add-on modules for RFEM 5 to design concrete solids?

Answer:

In RFEM 5, it is possible to design surfaces and members made of reinforced concrete: The members are designed in the RF‑CONCRETE Members or RF‑CONCRETE Columns add-on module, and the surfaces are designed in the RF‑CONCRETE Surfaces add-on module (optionally with RF‑CONCRETE Deflect or RF‑CONCRETE NL).

Thus, reinforced concrete solids cannot be designed directly in RFEM 5—there is no add-on module for reinforced concrete design of solids.

However, it is possible to create solids using the "Concrete" material and determine the stresses within the solid, for example. Optionally, you can add a result beam into the solid, which is used to convert the results of the solid to member internal forces. You can then subsequently design the result beam in the add-on modules RF‑CONCRETE Members or RF‑CONCRETE Columns.
