Design and Construction of Bridge over Rhine

The Hessian town of Gernsheim, Germany, had a bridge over the Rhine for a few years during World War II. At the place of the partially preserved structure, a bridge for cyclists, pedestrians, and car traffic was designed. The bridge consists of a supporting structure lying above the roadway. The car deck is located in the central area of the bridge section, under which the load is transferred outwards onto the main structure. On the outside of the structure, the cycling and pedestrian path is cantilevered outwards.

The bridge consists of a supporting structure lying above the roadway. The car deck is located in the central area of the bridge section, under which the load is transferred outwards onto the main structure. On the outside of the structure, the cycling and pedestrian path is cantilevered outwards.

The main structure is made of steel. The roadway and the secondary structure are made of weather-resistant timber.

"Thank you very much for providing me your RSTAB program. The program is user-friendly; I used it in combination with Excel."
