Project of Timber and Steel Dome

Konrad Rodacki, a student of civil engineering at the Cracow University of Technology, used the RFEM program when writing his master's thesis. The subject of the thesis is the structural and dynamic analysis of the timber and steel dome of the Las Arena building in Barcelona, Spain.

A model was made in RFEM, consisting of 1,145 members. The entire structure was loaded with tangential forces due to wind and snow, and designed for the cross-sectional forces obtained in this way. The real stiffnesses of nodes were determined and the changes of forces and displacements were analyzed after taking into account the stiffnesses entered into the program.
