After the Fukushima accident in 2011 caused by multiple earthquakes, EDF decided to equip its French nuclear plant with LCCs (Local Crisis Centers). The project is also part of the ASN's plan to extend the useful life of nuclear power plants by a minimum of 10 years, and of the decision of Europe, and especially of France, to revive the nuclear industry. Demathieu Bard, as a member of a consortium, is responsible for the design and construction of 17 new LCCs for EDF, with the delivery of all LCCs scheduled by 2026.
As part of his graduation thesis at Demathieu Bard, Mr. Adjehi used the structural FEA software RFEM 6 as well as the Concrete Design add-on. The study project is the construction of a LCC for the Cottenom power plant in eastern France. The structure is a world first of its type, consisting of a bunkerized building with a surface area of around 1,250 m², built entirely of reinforced concrete on one level.
