Germany and the Czech Republic
Trade and Friendship
The border between Bavaria and Bohemia is one of the oldest borders in Europe. Since the early days of civilization, this region has always been marked by wars and constant border shifts that followed them. What remained was the trade relations and friendships of the people on both sides. This special relationship between Bavaria and Bohemia has had a lasting impact on the region.
This coexistence changed with the two world wars and their consequences. In the struggle of the superpowers and with the raising of the Iron Curtain, relations stalled and ultimately came to a standstill. Southern Germany and the former Czechoslovakia were separated for several decades.
When the Iron Curtain fell with the Soviet Union decline over 30 years ago, the time had finally come. The former close contact between both countries has been resumed. At first, people carefully approached each other. Economic and human relationships flourished again, bringing the quite different cultures closer together. As close as never before.
Dlubal Software is happy to support these developments, for example, by sponsoring the second cross-border dragon boat race, also known as "Dragons Among Cities" 2023 . After all, it is important to further strengthen this cooperation between Bohemia and Bavaria. Together, we can achieve more!
Founding and Rise
Dlubal Software is therefore a prime example of the border crossing between the Czech Republic and Germany. Georg Dlubal, our esteemed boss, comes from Prague, and his wife Gabriela Dlubal from Mladá Boleslav.
Both moved to Germany together, and in 1987, Dlubal Software was founded as a sole proprietorship in Harsewinkel, here on German soil with Czech roots. Our COO Daniel Dlubal was born as a child of this German-Czech relationship. Daniel himself says:
- “I had the great opportunity to grow up with both cultures and I wouldn't want to do without it."
What started out as a small software company has gradually become one of the most user-friendly structural analysis software on the market. Dlubal Software soon fought for its well-deserved place at the forefront of the industry.
The Prague branch office in the Czech Republic was established as early as 1991. At the same time, the headquarters in Tiefenbach (Upper Palatinate) was opened. In the middle of the Bavarian Forest, where Dlubal Software GmbH is still at home today. In 2010, Leipzig was the second location in Germany.
Additional locations came along over the following years. Dlubal became increasingly international. In addition to the branch office in Katowice (Poland) established in 2013, Paris (France), Bologna (Italy), and Philadelphia (USA) followed two years later.
The year 2015 will be remembered as a great milestone. For Dlubal Software officially received the certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 for the structural analysis programs. The second Czech location, Brno, was founded in 2018, followed by Munich in 2020, and Shanghai (China) in 2021.
