How can consider shear deformation in RSTAB?
You can take into account the shear stiffnesses in the "Calculation Parameters" dialog box, resulting in increased deformations due to shear forces. To open the dialog box, select the corresponding entry on the "Calculation" menu.
The shear deformations arise only at the end nodes of members. Therefore, a single-span beam needs to be divided by intermediate note so that the increase takes effect.
The influence of the shear is dependent on the cross-sectional areas Ay and Az. You can look up the section properties of each cross-section in the table or it definition.
