CSA S16 Class 4 Sections

Helpful Questions & Answers

  • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I design members with Class 4 sections according to CSA S16 in the Steel Design add-on?

Answer

Compression elements in members subjected to pure axial compression can be designed according to CSA S16. For members subjected to flexure or combined loading (flexure + compression), the design is currently not possible.

For a member with a very small flexural load, the load can be ignored by increasing the limit in the Ultimate Configurations to avoid the 'non-designable' result.
