New programs and add-ons
The stand-alone program RSECTION calculates section properties of any thin-walled and thick-walled cross-sections, and performs a stress analysis. RSECTION combines the programs SHAPE-THIN and SHAPE-MASSIVE. Compared to these programs, the following new features have been added in RSECTION:
- Graphical display of stress components
With the RFEM add-on Steel Joints, you can analyze steel connections using an FE model. Modeling runs fully automatically in the background and can be controlled by the user via the simple and familiar input of components. The loads determined on the FE model are subsequently used for the design checks of the components according to EN 1993‑1‑8 (incl. National Annexes).
The RFEM add-on Building Model allows you to define and manipulate a building by means of stories. The stories can be adjusted in many ways afterwards and the story slab stiffness can be selected. Information about the stories and the entire model (center of gravity, center of rigidity) is displayed in tables and graphics.
The RFEM add-on Masonry Design allows you to design masonry using the finite element method. It was developed as part of the research project DDMaS - Digitizing the Design of Masonry Structures. The material model represents the nonlinear behavior of the brick-mortar combination in the form of macro-modeling.
The two-part add-on Optimization & Costs / CO2 Emission Estimation finds suitable parameters for parameterized models and blocks via the artificial intelligence (AI) technique of particle swarm optimization (PSO) for compliance with common optimization criteria. This add-on also estimates the model costs or CO2 emissions by specifying unit costs or emissions per material definition for the structural model.
The Time-Dependent Analysis (TDA) add-on allows you to consider time-dependent material behavior of members. Long-term effects, such as creep, shrinkage, and aging, can influence the distribution of internal forces, depending on the structure.
Web service and API allows you to create your own desktop or web-based applications by controlling all objects included in RFEM 6 and RSTAB 9. By providing libraries and functions, you can develop your own design checks and effective modeling of parametric structures, as well as optimization and automation processes using the programming languages Python and C#.
