In the business and technology park Wohlgelegen in Heilbronn, work, education, living, and leisure come together in an idyllic, peaceful atmosphere directly on the banks of the Neckar River. The recently completed Innovation Factory is located in the southern part of the technology park.
The five-story building provides office space for the IT industry, creative industries, and start-ups. The atrium in the center extends under the glazed roof, allowing daylight into the building. This central space encourages people to get to know each other and exchange ideas.
The entire building has a floor area of approximately 31 × 31 m (101 × 101 ft) and includes a partial basement. The floors above ground are made of timber, while the staircases and the basement consist of reinforced concrete.
The roof and floors are made of visible glued-laminated timber, while the floor slabs are reinforced by a composite timber-concrete floor slab. For architectural and structural reasons, the timber facade supports are arranged in a V-shape.
