The stand-alone program RWIND allowed Davide Prando (architect) and Marco Rota Nodari (engineer) to optimize the project, highlighting some critical locations on the buildings' surfaces, due to the high positive and negative pressure values encountered.
The sluice gate is based on a pressure segment used to control the water level of the weir. The flap width is 23 ft, the total width of the structure is 34 ft. It is possible to dam water to a maximum height of 18 ft. The structure is made of S 355 steel.
To perform renovations of the steeple of the St. Martinus parish in Kerpen, Germany, a scaffold was required. The designers had to meet a special challenge, as the frame construction had to be set up at the spire top without applying pressure anchors, which are usually used in scaffolding.
